Aardvark Therapeutics respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This Collection Notice explains how we collect, use, and disclose personal information when you use the website for the clinicial trial Hunger Elimination or Reduction Objective (HERO) Study for Treatment of Hyperphagia in Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS).

When you use our website or complete our online forms, we may collect the following personal information about you:

  • Contact details, such as your first and last name, phone number and email address.

  • Biographic and demographic information, such as data of birth, gender, and zip code.

  • Communications that we exchange with you, including when you contact us with questions or feedback, such as by email, phone, or text message.

  • Health and medical information such as diagnosis and previous treatments will be confirmed but no health and medical information beyond the individual’s attestation is ever collected.

 

3. How we collect your information

We collect your personal information directly from you when you fill out a contact form on the HERO website. We may also collect technical information automatically through your browser or device when you visit our site, including through the use of cookies.

 

4. Why we collect your information

We collect and use your personal information to assess your eligibility to participate in a clinical trial, and to contact you for further information or follow-up regarding potential participation. We will collect your contact details (such as name, postal code and email address) and clinical trial participation preferences when you submit information to be initially screened for the clinical trial. Examples include, how far you are willing to travel, how you prefer to be contacted, and your previous participation in clinical trials. This data will be used by a service provider acting on our behalf called Leapcure, who may use your information to contact you if you meet the requirements for a clinical trial. Processing of your data for these purposes is necessary for you to express your interest in the clinical trial.

 

5. Disclosure of your information

We may disclose your personal information to third parties, including Leapcure, who assist us in conducting clinical research activities, including data analysis and processing. Some of these third parties are located in the United States (USA). When disclosing your personal information overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure that the recipient handles your information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) and provides a comparable level of protection.

6. Security

We employ a number of technical, organizational and physical safeguards designed to protect the data we collect. However, no security measures are fail safe and we cannot guarantee the security of your personal information.

 

7. If you do not provide your information

If you choose not to provide the requested personal information, we may not be able to assess your eligibility or contact you about participation in clinical trials.

 

8. Access and correction of your information

You may request access to, or correction of, the personal information we hold about you by contacting us at aardvark.privacy@mydata-trust.info. We will respond to your request in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

 

9. How to make a privacy complaint

If you believe that we have breached the Australian Privacy Principles, you may contact us at aardvark.privacy@mydata-trust.info.  We will investigate and respond to your complaint. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au.

 

10. Data retention

We will retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected, or as required by law. Once no longer needed, your information will be securely destroyed or de-identified.
